Happy holiday!

2nd day of my long weekend.

Travel plan

Watched 风云 with P yesterday. It probably is the most ridiculously funny Chinese movie ever. I know it's an adaptation of The Death Battle but it is done without much taste. Really. Apparently, Lord Godless's weakest spot is his armpit.

As I have mentioned a few posts before, we will be heading to the Canton Fair in Guangzhou this April. I decided to stay behind for the second phase and hop over to HK for an International Fair. P would have to get back to Thailand so I would be all alone. There is a week break between Phase 1 and 2 of the Canton Fair. I an lucky to have an old friend offering her place readily when I asked so most likely I would be spending some time in HK. I am also considering the option of flying back to Singapore during the break. We'll see how things go.

Things here never get confirmed till the very last minute.

Beer and bag

We were at the grocery store yesterday when P started filling up the basket with his now daily supply of beer, juices, tibits, etc. He looked into the basket and went "Oh! I am so guilty. Why don't you pick some stuff too?". I contributed less than 5% to the total expenditure at the grocery store (spent 10 baht on a pack of wet tissue). I am actually not quite into snacking (not so much because there is a fear of putting on weight, but it seems to be implanted in my brain that processed food is unhealthy and should be avoided). I turned around and told P to remember that as and when I decide to buy a somewhat expensive bag (which would be capped at one per year), he should bear in mind the guilt he felt when spending on those junk food.

I guess, everyone is just different.

Potential biz opportunity

Railing for our stairs was up since weeks ago

This was the window panels before installation

And after (a view from the main entrance into the living area)

Another view from the living area into the garden space

Tiling works for our toilets are all done and we are now left with filling in of the coloured mortar. Guess very soon we would be able to proceed with the paint works.

This is me at work today

This green top was from my MIL. She likes getting stuff for us when she's running her errands at the market. Now the question is, how much would you pay for a plain top like this (good fit, stretchable)? I would think that FEP would have tops like this going at 12-15 bucks?

Baby production

It's a slow start on a lazy Monday (as per most other Mondays). Saturday was spent lazing at home while Sunday at a nearby plant market. Nothing too intensive on both days and this probably explains the current retardation.

Some time ago, P and I were at the "When are you ready to for a kid" (or rather, I asked when he would be ready). He replied without hesitation "I am ready when you are". The situation is starting to get kind of tricky. We are married for 2.5 years now. He's coming 31 and I am turning 29 in another 8 months (phew!). Our nest is going to be ready in approximately 2 months. The excuses to push back this whole baby production seems to be weaker over time. Seriously, I don't know when I will ever be ready for a new addition in our lives but I would rather not have these as reasons for me to conceive.

If everything goes as planned, the first half of this year would be a busy one. I hope to achieve as much as possible before we welcome a new life into our family. I constantly remind myself that I have to work towards personal fulfillment in life as well as building a better future for my kid.

Wrapping up

Have been so busy this week preparing for the workshop and all.

This is me looking strangely disgruntled.

Oh well, finally it's over. Wouldn't call it a great job done but I guess we should give ourselves a pat on the shoulder for pulling this off.

Being busy also means that time passes really fast. If you haven't realized, the 2nd month of 2010 is coming to an end very soon. On our site visit 2 days ago, we saw the first window frame up at our new place. Very soon, they will start installation of all sanitary ware. This will be followed by floor tiles, laminate, our beloved kitchen so on and so forth. March will definitely be a busy month. This is also when things will start to be really exciting (and tedious).

Just this morning, Mdm was working on my lappie with my back towards the window when I suddenly heard a loud thud. I turned around and saw this bird making a U-turn away from the window. Poor birdy must have flew right into the window. I am surprised the impact didn't kill him.

Happy Friday to all.

V day and house update

Our purchase on V day -- cute family of duck soap dish!

Had a simple V day dinner at my fav Thai restaurant, a very nice cozy one that serves great seafood dishes. IMO, it's one of the best in Chiangmai. Up north, good seafood restaurants are hard to come by.

Spoke to my folks, MM and cousins yesterday. I was glad to hear from my big bro cousin that he is planning to bring his family here this year end. Once our place is done up, I certainly welcome family and friends with wide open arms. Between P and I, there are perpetual talks about having some kind of verandah and outdoor seating area for guests coming over for BBQ sessions. Guests meaning his family, friends and mine!

Mosaic tiles are up for the loos:

This is an incomplete look, pipeworks have just been completed yesterday so some parts of the tiling are yet to be repaired. Can't wait to see the completed look!

Nostalgic beginning - 小虎队&王菲

Caught these 2 clips on Youtube. Incredibly nostalgic. Especially the one featuring 小虎队.

小虎队串烧《再聚首》

I can still clearly remember grabbing my sis along with me at the then Harbour Pavillion and went star chasing. MM was like 10, I was 12.

And this is like one OMG performance by 王菲 after disappearing from the limelight for a long long time. Is she lip-syncing? It sounds like pitch perfect to me.

Missing all the reds

Progressing with colours...

It's my favourite day of the week! And starting from tomorrow, it would be probably hard to reach my folks (in fact they have been kept busy with all the CNY preparations since weeks ago).

I was on the car with P yesterday evening when I told him about CNY. And then, uncontrollably, I started to tear. I was not trying to be dramatic but I was kinda overwhelmed by emotions. It has been 2.5 years now, and I guess I still haven't really fully adjusted myself to missing all the CNYs, mid-autumn festivals, birthdays.

Tuesday 9 February 2010

CNY in Thailand, again.

Finally back to my 5-day work week schedule. *Yawn*

By the way, I might have screwed my chance. I had to push back my 2nd round (which was initially to be done with the Director from the NY office) since I was told to get on the plane to HK. And now, I missed her (she flew to HK on the very day I flew back) and I haven't heard from them since. =(((

Most likely we would be going to Guangzhou this April for the Canton Fair. And I was thinking if I did blow my chance, the Canton Fair would be a good chance to scout for potential business opportunities.

CNY is less than a week away. I wish I could be home. I miss the yummy snacks, the crowd and my beloved family!

Cars, men and women

P is mad researching on cars right now (and I half suspect this research has been keeping him occupied at work the past few days). P seems to have finally made up his mind, i.e. to give up his current junk (and a bit of integrity) for a men's toy. This is after my parents-in-law have, for the Nth time, suggested P to get a new vehicle. The ultimatum came with the last car repair bill as the maintainence cost rocketed.

We have done 2 test drives so far and I found myself not overly excited. I can't feel the difference. A car is a car. On the other hand, P was in an obvious good mood after both test drives. 2 nights ago, I found him staring into the dark at 3 am in the morning when my cough attack got me up. He couldn't make up his mind which model to get (and still hasn't). He's comparing the petrol consumption, the engine, etc.

I will probably only lose sleep over what to wear for my presentation next day, definitely not cars.

Hachi

Was busy recuperating from the big brochi infection since I got back from HK (which by the way was a very interesting, beneficial and fruitful work trip). Finally got much better today and managed to pull myself together for work this morning. I can't believe that Friday is already here. It had been a terrible January with me being hit first by gastric infection then bronchitis, both equally unbearable. The cough attacks these past nights were very disturbing and 2 nights ago I had difficulty even getting to sleep.

Watched Hachi starring Richard Gere this evening and was so so touched. It's for everyone, dog lover or not (so go watch it!). And because we have a dog at home, I felt extra empathetic. I know it's nice to have a sensitive/ loyal dog but it's really better not to have your dog waiting for you at the train station for years. That's just so sad.

This is our house minus the tiles and a complete set of fenestration. Paint work is like quarter done.

Bitten by the sick bug

Landed on sat night, began developing a very bad cough and slight fever. Went to the doctor this morning and was diagnosed to be suffering from brochi infection.

I hate bad coughs.
