Zombified

P's dad is having his surgery today and P had been accompanying him since last night (meaning Mdm was all alone in our house, which suddenly seemed humongous!)

I was trying to enjoy the rare private time I was granted with but I ended up lying on the bed and stayed awake till wee hours of the morning. And this morning, I came to work totally zombified.

This, plus the breakout I am having and the new rather ridiculous haircut I had during lunch break, I look kinda disasterous.

Building up a nest is darn tiring

I am so super tired from all the cleaning up, moving of stuff etc. I feel like my body is giving way very soon but I can't help but keep working!!! At 10.30pm, P actually wanted to water the plants. We are obsessed!!!

I spent a day yesterday painting selected walls in the house while P was kept busy moving stuff from our old place. We now have our sofa, dining table and our master bedroom's mattress. But, we still have tonnes of belongings (clothes, books, etc.). Having a mover is definitely a blessing which we do not have.

Looking at these, I guess our hard work these 2 days paid off!

The master bedroom's red wall and newly assembled wardrobe area (partition still missing)

P's pride. He did most of the drilling, and swearing.

More to come.

We shifted!

Our Sunday was incredibly hectic.

We got up at 8.30, did our own delivery and got our divan base, went to get the miscellaneous (cleaning accessories etc.) and bought a mattress (which was delivered to us on in 2 hours!), a wardrobe and a cabinet for my folks' room. We got back to the old place in the evening, grab all the essentials and went back to our nest. At 9 pm, I busied myself setting up my folks' room (which we would be using for the time being till we get some help in delivering our old mattress to the new place) and P carried our stuff down the super Chevy, which has been doubling as a delivery truck. He cooked our first meal (i.e. 5 packs of instant noodle with eggs, eggs and eggs) and even without our living and dining furniture, we settled ourselves comfortably down at the kitchen island.

And so, we spent our first night in our new place!

When would u see beyond colour, Dr. M?

Dr M warns Malays against S'pore fate

"If we don't act rationally, one day we will be like the Malays in Singapore - a people who are truly powerless. So, they have to bow down to another race," said the former premier.

I think Dr M is getting really sick, mentally. Comparing apples to apples, I think our government is being so much fairer to the minorities in Singapore as compared to how our neighbour is to theirs.

Becoming a herbivore

Went for a full body check-up few weeks ago and got the results back last Saturday. Was dismay to find myself diagnosed with:
- Lower than normal WBC
- Higher than normal uric acid level
- Extremely high blood cholesterol (like 244!!!)

I am not even 30.

So for the past few days, I have been pushing myself harder on the treadmill. I have also started meat fasting since Monday. For the rest of June, anything non-meat is going to be my best friend. I thought it wouldn't bother me much but at Day 4, I salivated at the thought of grilled chicken.

All these for good health and... in preparation for MM's big day!!!

Day visit to Fang district, Chiangmai

Took a 3-hour car ride yesterday and ended up in Fang, a district to the north of Chiangmai.

(freshly laid egg in a flower pot!)

Had the opportunity to do a bit of sightseeing in the not so touristy Fang district. We visited the new Chedi Kaew in Thaton and I was pleasantly surprised by its architecture, a deviation from the grandeur of most Thai temples.

On my way up Chedi Kaew, I could not help but notice the contributions of my fellow comrades!

Made our way to the top of the Chedi. The massive use of stainless steel is not a regular sight in most Thai temples. I thought Chedi Kaew is really kinda a modern interpretation of Buddhist architecture.

(My in-laws!)

Magnificent view of Fang from the Chedi

On my left just across from where I stood, I spotted a small settlement located in the midst of greens. It must be really frustrating to watch the construction and subsequent completion of a 200 million Thai baht temple right across from your village while your dilapidated living condition prevails.
