Sri Lanka is definitely an underrated tourist spot but I'm pretty sure that the tourism industry has picked up since the defeat of the Tamil Tigers. Nothing is more attractive than having traces of its colonial influence intertwined with the richness of local arts and culture. Something that Singapore has lost, where colonialism is sheer representational (which of course includes its Westminster system of parliamentary democracy).
