Trip to Taipei Part 1

I've finally the time to get down to this (with the help of P who managed to revive my dying laptop).

Some pics of our family trip to Taipei and Hong Kong. Basically, everyone (including P) loves Taipei. I am thinking of going back already!!!

Time for Singapore TV, more will be up tomorrow.

Singapore in another 48 hours

Big T asked if Mr Santa is for real. I mean... HELLO? I don't think I have ever in my life believe that Santa is for real (even when I was like 4). If Santa is for real, Singaporeans probably wouldn't get any presents. He would be sweating like mad cos the weather is going to be humid as usual. If I were him, I might just skip Singapore. Can you even imagine a sweating Santa?

How unglam is that.

Christmas this year is much better than last. This is probably so because I am in a Christian school and people do bother to do up the place, exchange gifts etc. But out of the school compound, you probably wouldn't feel a bit that Christmas is approaching (aside from the marts where Christmas trees are on sale).

This is our office after C and I spent like an hour doing it up

I was lying on the bed yesterday night and couldn't believe how excited I was about going home. I actually had some difficulties falling asleep for the past few nights. Too much were on my mind. For the past few days, I have been thinking about the places I would be going to, the food I am going to eat, my dog etc. My waistline is definitely going to expand. I am trying to minimize that by increasing my calories burnt on the treadmill before I get home but I doubt it will help.

Today is my second last day at work for this year and I am 48 hours away from getting home!!!

Our to-gets from Chiangmai

We made a trip to the marts to get the usual and not-so-usual goodies for my folks back in Singapore this evening.

The one thing on my mum's list of must-get from Chiangmai is

http://www.bijlmakers.com/fruits/longan/dried_longan.JPG

Sounds ridiculous it may, but apparently the quality of dried longan here is good and they're much cheaper. I thought I have blogged about this some time back (along with the post about the 10 kilo (or 15) of fresh mangoes my MIL packed) but I can't seem to find the old post.

And then there are tonnes of Thai chili (fish/prawn flavour from slightly spicy/spicy to very spicy). This is not a request from mummy but I have a personal liking for them (they are uber yummy and go well with plain rice/crackers etc.). The rest are various Thai snacks (including MM's favourite of course, i.e. pork cracker) and bottles of honey for my dad. All in all, we would be bringing back 2 big boxes of Thai snacks, and probably one small carton of oranges. And since we are taking direct flight this time round, we won't have to worry about exceeding the weight limit and the hassle of lugging everything around Suvarnabhumi.

Mdm got a surprise call from Tammy this morning. We arranged to meet up in HK and I asked if she wanted anything from Chiangmai. She happily said "Elephant". It's funny how everyone immediately links Thailand with elephants. Mdm is excited about taking our first family trip with P as well as meeting up with Tam. It has been 9 months since we last met!

If everything works out well, Mdm would be going to Chengdu early next year. I am so looking forward to meeting up with Shirley. I miss my girl so much. So much has happened over the past 3 years and we sure have lots of catching up to do.

O Brother, Where Bart Thou

With emotions running high, this is unquestionably the best GG episode EVER. Blair's love declaration almost got me to tears.

Check out the disheveled Chuck

Gg_chuckfuneral

OMG.

The next new episode of GG won’t air until January 5, 2008. A long wait it is but that's also when Mdm will only be back in Thailand! So ya, it's rather well-timed I suppose.

By the way, I have a feeling Ed Westwick a.k.a. Chuck Bass will make it BIG.

Because... I say so!

Day wasted

Mdm didn't get to wake up late today even it's a non-working day. The elder niece (aka Big T) has been missing her weekly classes for more than 3 consecutive classes and we have arranged for a 2-hour class this morning. So, Mdm got up at 8a.m., brushed my teeth and was all ready for classes till I was told that Big T has something on in school and our class has to be postponed. AGAIN.

Nevermind.

I spent the next few hours washing my heels (that are embedded in mud), emptying the laundry basket etc.

There goes another day.
