We made a trip to the marts to get the usual and not-so-usual goodies for my folks back in Singapore this evening.
The one thing on my mum's list of must-get from Chiangmai is
Sounds ridiculous it may, but apparently the quality of dried longan here is good and they're much cheaper. I thought I have blogged about this some time back (along with the post about the 10 kilo (or 15) of fresh mangoes my MIL packed) but I can't seem to find the old post.
And then there are tonnes of Thai chili (fish/prawn flavour from slightly spicy/spicy to very spicy). This is not a request from mummy but I have a personal liking for them (they are uber yummy and go well with plain rice/crackers etc.). The rest are various Thai snacks (including MM's favourite of course, i.e. pork cracker) and bottles of honey for my dad. All in all, we would be bringing back 2 big boxes of Thai snacks, and probably one small carton of oranges. And since we are taking direct flight this time round, we won't have to worry about exceeding the weight limit and the hassle of lugging everything around Suvarnabhumi.
Mdm got a surprise call from Tammy this morning. We arranged to meet up in HK and I asked if she wanted anything from Chiangmai. She happily said "Elephant". It's funny how everyone immediately links Thailand with elephants. Mdm is excited about taking our first family trip with P as well as meeting up with Tam. It has been 9 months since we last met!
If everything works out well, Mdm would be going to Chengdu early next year. I am so looking forward to meeting up with Shirley. I miss my girl so much. So much has happened over the past 3 years and we sure have lots of catching up to do.
