纸上谈兵的一代

P told me this morning his friend's mum passed on few days ago. I thought I said "oh...". Anyway, at least she's relieved of pain now.

Sometimes I wonder, what would I do if I have only one month left on planet Earth. Maybe I would do something really outrageous before ending my own life. There are loads that I would love to do but havent had the ability, time, motivation etc. but to do them all in the month before I die, I mean, what's the point.

I have discussed with MM a couple of times, about how our generation does not treasure life as preciously as my dad's. When my dad went for his bypass surgery 1.5 years ago, I could see how afraid he was to leave. It's not the pain that he was expecting himself to go through, but the risk of losing his life. It's not as though I didn't want my dad to live, I was worried as well, but it wasn't easy for me to understand why was it so hard for him to face death which is inevitable anyway.

Maybe for my dad, where everything does not come easy, were fought for and built with using his bare hands, life is more precious. I haven't seen anyone so in love with his job and I thought he wasn't really looking forward to retirement. I have always been very proud of what my dad. I thought he has achieved quite a bit compared to his peers and as I am older now, I can clearly see how life for me has been smooth sailing because of him. On rare occassions, my folks will remind MM and I how difficult life was for them when we were younger.

Everything seems to come by so easily for us and perhaps the toughest war we have ever fought in was at school. Maybe the fight might be what is really missing in our lives (or my life).

A mum's wish

I was on the phone with my mummy yesterday night. Mummy was kinda worried about MM who seemed super busy these days. Basically, she's so busy at work that she can't seem to have the time to date, have lotsa fun like she used to or even sleep. Mummy is keeping her fingers crossed that MM can soon find the right guy, get married, quit her job and most importantly, be free from work stress.

Mdm is half way in joining the HDB club

I don't think I ever have this problem but I think this is quite a good read. =)



Amidst all the confusion and preparation for purchase approval, HDB granted preliminary consent and I managed to submit my application for the August BTO Exercise at Senja Green yesterday. According to the number of application received as at 3 September 2008 , we have a 70% chance.

So all we can do now, is sit back and pray. Good luck to us!

An article on Singtel mio TV's season pass is in today's papers. The folks at Singtel mio TV launched some season pass thingy at anything from $16.05 to $69.55 for the latest seasons of a hit American drama.

“Why should people have to access such content illegally on the Internet when they can get it at the touch of a button on mio TV?” said Mr Low Ka Hoe, SingTel’s director of mio TV and content.

“They no longer are tied to programming schedules, as we allow them to select and watch the latest episode of their favourite TV series from our extensive library of on-demand titles whenever they want to.”

This Mr Low Ka Hoe got to be kidding. Isn't the reason for accessing content illegally and not touching that button on his mio TV obvious?




It seems like the situation here in Thailand has worsened. There are increased threats of disrupting services from various providers and C told me this morning that all schools in Bangkok will be closed.

One Killed in Thai Protests; Emergency Is Declared

It's good that here in Chiangmai, it is as peaceful as ever. There was a blackout yesterday (which had nothing to do with the ongoing protests in Bangkok) and for 1.5 hour random businesses, residences (including ours) and stretches of roads were all without electricity. We got home at about 7-ish and without electricity, we were kinda lost. There was nothing we could do. No electricity means no A/C, no hot water for shower, no entertainment etc. I rested on the bed and kinda ranted about how impossible it is for half the town to operate without electricity.

Tired/sleepy/hungry/bored

It's almost 6pm and I am still stuck in the office. I need some fresh air!!! Plus I am super tired/sleepy/hungry/bored.

I just got off the phone with P and he told me that he will need another 30 minutes!!! OMG. Is it right for me to rest my damn head and take a short nap at work? ARGH. I miss MRT, cabs, buses etc. I don't care about the fare, at least I dont have to feel like I am a cripple.

This is, according to reviews, very effective. The best part is, you just have to practise it like 3-4 times a week on alternate days. I have done it twice in the last 3 days and my abs are aching like hell (which I presume is good news).

We haven't been to the mall for 2 weeks now. Frankly, there ain't much to do in Chiangmai and there are only 2 malls. We kinda cooped up in our room for the whole of yesterday's afternoon and only ended up at the Sunday weekend market because we drove past that area in our search for food. The place was so crowded that at some junctions we were having difficulties squeezing through the crowd. It was tiring but I guess we had fun strolling, food munching and people watching.

And because of what we have seen, we were thinking if it's a better idea to get a DSLR instead of a lomo camera. We planned to get our first lomo camera tomorrow but it seemed like there's a a quiver in our decision.
